Antique Dowry Box
Delightful antique dowry box dated 1855. Hand painted in the lovely European folk art style popular at the time. This piece is well travelled having been purchased by the last owner in the United States some 50 years ago. He purchased it from an Hungarian gentleman whose family had emigrated to the US in the late 1800s. It shows every sign of its vast age possible; borer holes, fading, some original hand forged hardware, some replaced but still very old. This item is best suited for decoration only due to its fragile condition.
